Crisis and trauma intervention in Madrid
There are moments when something overwhelms you: a traumatic event, a sudden loss, an anxiety or panic crisis, news that changes everything. The body is flooded and it is hard to think clearly. In those moments you do not need to solve everything: you need support and a first step.
Crisis intervention is support focused on stabilising you and giving you back some sense of safety, so that later, calmly, we can work on what has stayed inside. I am Alejandro Cabeza, a psychologist expert in EMDR and trauma, and I am here to support you.
Over 7 years supporting psychotherapy processes · In person in Madrid and online.
If this is an emergency and there is a risk to your life or someone else's, or you have thoughts of harming yourself, call 112 or 024 (suicidal behaviour helpline), available 24 hours. Crisis intervention supports the process; it does not replace an emergency service.
When it can help you
- ✓ After a traumatic event (an accident, an assault, a situation that overwhelmed you).
- ✓ Facing a sudden loss or grief that has overwhelmed you.
- ✓ When anxiety or panic crises appear that you do not know how to manage.
- ✓ In acute stress that stops you sleeping, concentrating or getting through your day.
- ✓ If you relive what happened (images, nightmares, startle responses) and cannot "turn the page".
- ✓ When you feel you are in survival mode and need to find your footing again.
How I work with a crisis
Find your footing
Safety comes first: techniques to regulate the body, lower activation and breathe again.
Release the charge
When what you lived keeps activating, EMDR therapy helps to process it so it loses intensity.
Return to yourself
Place what happened back into your story, recover your routine and your bonds, and come out with more resources than before.
Is what you are going through connected to bonds and older wounds? You may also relate to trauma and attachment.
You do not have to carry it alone
Write to me briefly explaining what is happening and we will find a first appointment as soon as possible. I am here to support you.
